After you pass the first checkpoint, you will hike all upstairs for one hour to Machu Picchu main gate to be there around 6:00 am. Once everybody meets at the gate, you go into Machu Picchu for the guided tour for 2.5 hours to learn everything about the lost city of the Incas. After the guided tour, you have free time to explore on your own the Inca city of Machu Picchu. The time that you will spend in Machu Picchu will depend on how you like to go back to Cusco and will depend if you want to climb the Machu Picchu Montaña or Huayna Picchu Mountain which must book it in advance.
We offer you two options to go back to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu.
TRAIN OPTION:
You can visit Machu Picchu for a longer time and have enough time if you are planning to do HUAYNAPICCHU or Machu Picchu MOUNTAIN, which require a minimum of 3 hours approximately. After visiting the area of Machu Picchu for 7 to 8 hours, you have to return to the town of Aguas Calientes to take a train at 18:20 to Ollantaytambo for 1.5 hours then by car to Cusco for 2 hours more to arrive in Cusco around 10:30 pm
CAR OPTION:
You arrive at Machu Picchu around 6:00 am for the guided tour for 2.5 hours then you have free time to explore the site on your own. If you take this option, and you are thinking to do HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN is possible but will be too tight and rush because you need to leave Machu Picchu at 11:30 to walk back to Hydroelectric for 3 hours in order to be in Hydroelectric at 2:30 pm to take a car for 6 hours back Cusco. If you are considering doing this option and doing one of the mountains, we recommend you stay one more night in Aguas Calientes and return the 6th day to Cusco by car.

Salkantay Trail hike with the best guide ever - Amoroso I recently completed the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu, and it was an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Amoroso, was absolutely fantastic—his knowledge, passion, and energy truly elevated the journey. He made sure everyone felt comfortable and motivated, sharing fascinating insights about the region’s history and culture along the way. The trail itself was challenging but breathtaking, with diverse landscapes that kept every day exciting. I highly recommend this tour and especially Amoroso if you're looking for an enriching and well-organized adventure.Would love to return someday!

Wonderful Inka Trail Experience We did the 4 day Inka trail hike, and had the best time! Our guide Javier was very knowledgable about the Inka sites and history and supported the group throughout the hike. Javier answered all of our questions, kept us laughing and even taught us a little Quechua along the way! The Chef and team of porters, led by Antonio, were incredible and kept us very well looked after! The meals were delicious and there was plenty of food (special shoutout to Cristobal who always made sure our tea was hot and our water was cold!). We would recommend this company (and Javier!) to anyone interested in doing the Inka trail!
