TRIP ITINERARY
CUSCO – HUMANTAY LAKE – QUISWARNIYOC PRIVATE CAMP
After picking up everyone from their respective places or hotel, we left Cusco around 5:45 am to the town of Mollepata by car for 2 hours.
Once in Mollepata, we stop to have a delicious breakfast also you pay an entrance fee of 10 soles to the local municipality. Then we continue by car 1 hour more to Soraypampa where we will meet with the muleteers and horse who will take all the luggage, food and the 7 kilos of personal belongings of each hiker, which is going, given to them in the duffle bags. We start the uphill hike to Humantay lake for 2 hours, When you arrive at the lagoon you will have enough time to explore, photograph the place and the guide will explain all the meaning of the Humantay lagoon.
After a couple of hours in the lake, we start going down to Quiswarniyoc exclusive camp for 2 hours to have a healthful lunch. After lunch, you have free time to explore the beautiful area also if you like more hiking you can go up to Mirador of Salkantay for the panoramic view of the entire region.
If you are tired, you can rest in the MOUNTAIN SKY HUST, which are the cabins with glass door, inside there is pillows, sleeping pad and the illumination for the night. QUISWARNIYOC PRIVATE CAMP: It is an exclusive camp located at 4000 m. A unique camp has places for short hiking, overlooking the mountains and has waterfalls. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains. There are many llamas at the camp that you can take pictures of them while you explore de area.
QUISWARNIYOC - SALKANTAY HIGHEST POINT – SORAYMAPAMPA - OLLANTAYTAMBO
The second day of the trek is a little hard because it takes you up to the top of the highest point of the whole Salkantay trail to enjoy the fantastic views of the mountains and also you will visit Salkantay Lake.
The cooks will wake you up around 5:00 am with a cup of hot coca tea then you have time to repack and get ready for the nutritious breakfast, which serves, around 5:45 am. After is time to start hiking up to the highest point of the Salkantay trail, which is 4630 m that takes from 3 to 4 hours all uphill hike with a regular and slow pace.
Once you are at the highest point, you have time to enjoy the mountains, to take pictures and the guide will teach you about the mountain gods you will be part of the small Andean ritual for the Apus the mountain gods.
Then you walk back to Soraypampa for 2.5 hours downhill where you will have a delicious lunch. Afterward, you will take the car from Soraypampa to Ollantaytambo for around 4 hours once in Ollantaytambo you will sleep in the hotel, once there you will have time for showering then in the evening dinner then if you like you can explore a little bit of Ollantaytambo.
OLLANTAYTAMBO - HIDROLECTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTES
We pick you up in the morning from your hotel in Ollantaytambo around 9:00 am to go by car to Hydroelectric after 5 hours car ride we stop in Santa Teresa to have a delicious lunch in the local restaurants.
After lunch, we continue by car one more hour to Hydroelectric where the end of the car road is and starts the train tracks to Aguas Calientes.
Time to get ready for 3 hours flat hike to the base town of Machu Picchu. Once in the city, we take you to the hostel for showering and relaxing after having dinner in the city and get ready for the day in Machu Picchu.
MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
On the last day of the tour, you are going to visit Machu Picchu. You need to wake up around 4:00 am to get ready for the hike to Machu Picchu main entrance.
After you grab your pack breakfast, you start walking to Puente Ruins checkpoint for 30 minutes, which is open at 5:00 am where you have to show your passport and your Machu Picchu tickets.
After you pass the first checkpoint, you will hike all upstairs for one hour to Machu Picchu main gate to be there around 6:00 am.
Once everybody meets at the gate, you go into Machu Picchu for the guided tour for 2.5 hours to learn everything about the lost city of the Incas. After the guided tour, you have free time to explore on your own the Inca city of Machu Picchu.
The time that you will spend in Machu Picchu will depend on how you like to go back to Cusco and will depend if you want to climb the Machu Picchu Montaña or Huayna Picchu Mountain which must book it in advance.

¿COMO LLEGAR A SALKANTAY?
Para llegar a Salkantay necesariamente tendrás que llegar a la ciudad de cusco, donde será necesario ir con un guía para así dirigirle el camino para realizar su tours de aventura de salkantay treks.
Los ómnibus de Cusco a Mollepata parten muy temprano y pasan por Limatambo. Le sugerimos visitar la fortaleza de Tarahuasi. Desde la carretera se puede observar el río Apurímac y parte de su impresionante cañón. Tenga presente que la zona es fría y se alcanza una altitud cercana a los 5,000 m.s.n.m. Por estar a 2,803 m.s.n.m. de altitud, Mollepata permite subir gradualmente hacia el Salkantay. En el camino se observan rebaños de auquénidos. Luego de remontar un paso de altura es posible tener una impresionante vista piramidal del nevado Salkantay. El camino durara 05 dias llegando el ultimo dia a la Ciudadela Inca de Machu Picchu la Maravilla del Mundo Moderno.
¿DONDE QUEDA EL NEVADO DE SALKANTAY?
Salkantay o Sallqantay (en quechua ) es el pico más alto de la cordillera de Vilcabamba. Está ubicado en la Región Cusco, a unos 60 km al noroeste de la ciudad de Cusco. La proximidad de Salkantay a Machu Picchu hace que el trekking a su alrededor sea una alternativa al Camino Inca.
¿QUE COSAS PUEDO LLEVAR A SALKANTAY TREK ?

Para ir sin guía debes informarte bien las horas de salida de bus, desde la Avenida Arcopata, el costo es mínimo de s/. 12 soles, ya sea combis y bus de servicio público. Llegando a Mollepata puedes puede tomar un arriero para que pueda llevar sus mochilas, Debe saber que no hay restaurantes a partir del primer acampamento por ello debes llevar tu alimentación para los cuatro días.
¿CUANTO ES EL COSTO DE INGRESO A MACHU PICCHU POR SALKANTAY?
Al igual que el Camino Inca el ingreso a montaña machupicchu cuesta s/.200 soles $70 dólares como adulto y los estudiantes tienen descuento con la única tarjeta ISIC hasta los 24 años de edad, por ello debes solicitar a un operador Autorizado para que tramite su ingreso como estudiantes y estas contratando un paquete pida descuento como estudiante, para ellos enviar las tarjeta de estudiante actualizadas.
¿CUANTO CUESTA EL TOUR SALKANTAY PRIVADO?
Un tour privado para dos personas sale un promedio de 600 dólares por persona, el cual usted recibe una atención personalizada con buena comida, buen guía personal de arrieros y cocineros capacitados, el cual no es lo mismo decir que recibirá un servicio de lujo, ya que el trakking es un tour de Aventura, para ellos debe buscar un operador turísticos de su preferencia. Los tours privados son más confortables, ya que otros operadores organizan por la vía llaqtpata camino inca Original, eso sería la ventaja de hacer el tour privado, no todo los operadores realizan esta alternativas, debido a que muchos desean pasar una fiesta en los campamentos básico de santa teresa; en general lo que vales es que usted disfrute a esta maravilla del mundo que es Machupicchu.

WE RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT POINTS: What you need to pack for the Salkantay trek:
- Passport
- Backpack to carry water, some snacks, a camera, sunscreen, valuable things, Jacket etc.
- Sleeping bag at least minus 5 cº. If you do NOT have one, you can rent from us for 10 dollars for the whole trek.
- Trekking Poles – We recommend for people with problems of knees, ankle, or you are used to using hiking poles. If you do NOT have one, you can rent a pair of trekking poles for 10 dollars from us. Wool hat or beanie

- 3 – 4 t-shirt, if you have long sleeve better

Our guide Javier was very knowledgable about the Inka sites and history and supported the group throughout the hike. Javier answered all of our questions, kept us laughing and even taught us a little Quechua along the way! The Chef and team of porters, led by Antonio, were incredible and kept us very well looked after! The meals were delicious and there was plenty of food (special shoutout to Cristobal who always made sure our tea was hot and our water was cold!).
