Recommendations for Hiking Machu Picchu Mountain
Machu Picchu Mountain with the Train Return Option:
We recommend choosing the train return option if you plan to hike Machu Picchu Mountain. This option gives you more time to enjoy the experience at a relaxed pace and is less tiring compared to returning by car.
Machu Picchu Mountain with the Car Return Option:
This option is not feasible, as hiking Machu Picchu Mountain requires more time, making it impossible to coordinate with the car departure schedule.
Machu Picchu Mountain with an Additional Night in Aguas Calientes and Car Return:
For a more relaxed and budget-friendly experience, you can stay an extra night in Aguas Calientes. On the fifth day of your Salkantay Trek, after visiting Machu Picchu and hiking Machu Picchu Mountain, you’ll spend the night in Aguas Calientes and return to Cusco by car on the sixth day. We will arrange your car transfer at 3:00 PM on the sixth day. Please note that lodging and meal costs in Aguas Calientes are the responsibility of the client, but finding a place to stay is easy, as there are plenty of accommodation options available.
Book in Advance:
Machu Picchu Mountain is in high demand. Out of the 3,500 daily visitors allowed into Machu Picchu, only 400 tickets are available for this hike. To secure your spot, we recommend booking at least 4 months in advance.
