Pre-Trek Briefing — 7:00 PM at the Machu Picchu Team Office in Cusco
The day before your Salkantay Trek Only 4 Days begins, you’ll attend a mandatory briefing at 7:00 PM at our Cusco office — the perfect chance to meet your guide and fellow trekkers before setting off. During this session, your guide walks through the complete itinerary, daily hiking schedule, weather expectations, altitude considerations, safety guidance, and your exact hotel pick-up time. You’ll also receive your Machu Picchu entrance ticket and, if included in your package, your return train ticket. A duffel bag with a 7 kg (15 lbs) limit for personal items is provided, transported by horse throughout the trek. Any extra luggage you won’t need on the hike can be stored free of charge at our office until you’re back in Cusco. This is also a great opportunity to rent trekking poles or a sleeping bag, settle any outstanding balance, and ask your guide questions before the adventure begins. Please bring only your passport to this session for ticket verification.
Professional Guide Throughout the Trek and Machu Picchu Visit
Your Salkantay Trek Only 4 Days is led by a certified guide with extensive experience in high-altitude trekking and the Salkantay route. This same guide accompanies the group throughout the entire journey and leads your guided visit to Machu Picchu, following the circuit and entry time on your ticket. For safety, every guide carries a first-aid kit and emergency oxygen tank during the trek. Fluent in both English and Spanish, our guides ensure clear communication and a safe, informative experience from start to finish.
Hotel Pick-Up Between 4:30 and 5:00 AM
Early-morning pick-up from your Cusco hotel is included, scheduled between 4:30 and 5:00 AM depending on your accommodation’s location and the day’s route. Your exact time is confirmed during the pre-trek briefing the evening before. Please be ready in your hotel lobby at the confirmed time — travelers staying near our office may also meet the group directly there at 5:00 AM.
Private Transportation from Cusco to Soraypampa
Comfortable private transportation from Cusco to Soraypampa — the trailhead for the Salkantay Trek Only 4 Days — is included, with the journey taking approximately 3 hours before you meet your trekking support team and begin hiking.
7 kg Duffel Bag Service
During the pre-trek briefing, you’ll receive a duffel bag with a 7 kg (15 lbs) limit for personal belongings. This bag travels by horse throughout the trek and is delivered to each campsite, letting you hike with just a small daypack for daily essentials. At the end of the trek, you can return the bag to our Cusco office or leave it there until collecting your remaining luggage.
Meals Included: 4 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches, and 3 Dinners
Throughout the journey, our experienced chefs prepare fresh, nutritious meals for the group, including 4 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners, and daily snacks. Vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary needs can be accommodated at no extra cost — just let us know in advance.
Vegetarian, Vegan, and Special Dietary Options
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other special dietary options are available at no additional charge. Sharing your requirements at booking helps our cooking team prepare accordingly throughout the trek.
Professional Cooking Team Throughout the Journey
Our dedicated trekking chefs travel alongside the group, preparing fresh, nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, and other dietary needs can be accommodated on request, keeping every traveler well-nourished and energized.
Kitchen Equipment and Dining Utensils
All necessary cooking equipment, kitchen supplies, and dining utensils are provided and transported to each campsite by our support team, allowing our chefs to prepare and serve meals safely and efficiently.
Muleteers and Pack Horses
A dedicated team of muleteers and pack horses transports camping equipment, food supplies, and each traveler’s duffel bag (up to 7 kg / 15 lbs, including sleeping bag). This means you only need to carry a small daypack with daily essentials, while the rest of your belongings are delivered ahead to the next campsite.
Two Nights in Our Sky Star Crystal Domes
Your Salkantay Trek Only 4 Days includes two nights in our exclusive Sky Star Crystal Domes, featuring panoramic transparent walls and ceilings for an immersive experience under the stars. Each dome comes with comfortable mattresses and pillows — just bring a sleeping bag or rent one during the pre-trek briefing. Domes are typically arranged for two guests but can comfortably fit three or four travelers wishing to stay together.
One Night in a Hotel in Aguas Calientes
Your package also includes one night in a comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), featuring a private bathroom, hot shower, Wi-Fi, towels, and basic toiletries — a comfortable rest before your Machu Picchu visit.
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
Your package includes an approximately 2.5-hour guided visit to Machu Picchu, led by a professional guide according to your ticket’s entry time and circuit. Your guide covers the citadel’s history, architecture, and cultural significance while leading you through the authorized route, with possible free time depending on circuit regulations. This guided service applies to all travelers, including those who purchased their entrance ticket separately or obtained it in Aguas Calientes.
Free Luggage Storage in Cusco
Complimentary luggage storage is available at our main office in central Cusco, just steps from the Plaza de Armas, daily (including Sundays) from 4:30 AM to 10:00 PM — allowing you to leave extra luggage before your trek and collect it upon your return.
Emergency Oxygen and First-Aid Equipment
For your safety, every guide carries an emergency oxygen cylinder and fully equipped first-aid kit throughout the trek, ready to provide immediate assistance whenever needed.
