TRIP ITINERARY
CUSCO - SAYWITE - CAPULIYOC - CHIKISKA
CHIKISKA - PLAYA ROSALINAS - MARAMPATA
We will start the day early, right after breakfast, by descending for an hour to the Apurímac River at a spot called Playa Rosalina. After crossing the river, we will begin our ascent toward Santa Rosa, which will take approximately one and a half to two hours. This segment of the trek is physically demanding and involves a steep climb, albeit shaded.
Following a short break, we will continue climbing for another one and a half to two hours until we reach the village of Marampata. Here, we will have lunch and enjoy a free afternoon to rest after climbing 1500 meters in altitude over three to four hours. We will have dinner in the evening and spend the night there.
Marampata to Capuliyoc: Descending the Andean Pathways through Chikiska
Rise early on this day to enjoy breakfast before setting off on your descent towards the river, a journey that will take approximately 2.5 hours. Upon reaching the river, you’ll start a 1-hour ascent to the charming village of Chikiska. Here, you’ll refuel with a delicious lunch before continuing your upward trek for another 3 hours to reach the stunning Capuliyoc viewpoint.
At Capuliyoc, you can indulge in a delectable dinner and relax by a cozy campfire. Rest for the night in our comfortable mountain cabins, which offer breathtaking views of the Apurimac Canyon and the snow-capped Padreyoc peak, creating a perfect end to your day of adventure.
Cusco
On this relaxing day, you’ll have the opportunity to sleep in a little later before enjoying breakfast at the camp. Afterward, you’ll be guided to a special location for a traditional ceremony of offering to the earth (Pachamama), allowing you to immerse yourself in the local customs and spiritual practices.
Following this unique experience, you’ll return to the camp for a delicious lunch. Afterward, you’ll begin your journey back to your city of origin, carrying unforgettable memories of your time in the Andes.

- Free Storage: Leave your extra belongings at our Cusco office while you trek. Afterward, pick up your items or have them delivered to your Cusco hotel.

For the 4-day Choquequirao Trek, it’s essential to pack the right gear and clothing to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Here is a suggested packing list:
Clothing:
- Moisture-wicking shirts (long and short sleeves)
- Quick-drying hiking pants and shorts
- Fleece jacket or lightweight down jacket
- Waterproof and windproof jacket (preferably a breathable fabric)
- Warm hat and sun hat or cap
- Underwear and thermal base layers
- Hiking socks (moisture-wicking and quick-drying)
- Swimsuit (if you plan to swim in any rivers or streams)
Footwear:
- Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots or shoes with good ankle support
- Lightweight sandals or flip-flops for resting at the campsites

- Trekking poles (optional but helpful for steep ascents and descents)
- Gloves or mittens (for cold early mornings and evenings)
Gear:
- Daypack (25-35 liters) with a rain cover
- Water bottles or hydration system (2-3 liters capacity)
- Headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries
- Camera or smartphone with portable charger and extra batteries
- Dry bags or plastic bags to keep belongings dry in case of rain
Personal items:
- High SPF sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Personal toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, wet wipes, etc.)
- Travel-size quick-dry towel

The pricing for the Choquequirao Trek varies based on the number of participants in a group. If you’re interested in joining an existing group, inquire about departure dates and availability. If you don’t find a suitable group for your preferred dates, you can start a new group, and the initial price will be determined by the number of registrants. The final price will be adjusted according to the total number of travelers in the group.

- 2 people: $450 per person
- 3 people: $350 per person
- 4 people: $310 per person

Our guide Javier was very knowledgable about the Inka sites and history and supported the group throughout the hike. Javier answered all of our questions, kept us laughing and even taught us a little Quechua along the way! The Chef and team of porters, led by Antonio, were incredible and kept us very well looked after! The meals were delicious and there was plenty of food (special shoutout to Cristobal who always made sure our tea was hot and our water was cold!). We would recommend this company (and Javier!) to anyone interested in doing the Inka trail!
