CUSCO - CUSIPATA TOWN - RAINBOW MOUNTAIN - RED VALLEY - CUSCO
- Pick up time from your hotel is from 4:30 to 5:00 am
- It takes 3 hours car ride from Cusco to the trail head
- It takes 2 hours uphill hiking from the trail head to the rainbow mountain (4km up)
- The time that you spend in the rainbow mountain is around 30 minutes to one hour depending on the weather conditions
- Hiking back from the rainbow mountain to the car stop through the red valley takes around 2 hours downhill hike
- Car ride back to Cusco takes around 3 hours
- You will be back in Cusco around 4:30 pm
After picking up everyone from their respective hotels, we will go to the town of Cusipata by car for 2 hours where we will make a stop at the restaurant to have a delicious breakfast, which will take about an hour and then we continue in the same car for 1 more hour towards the beginning of the hike which is called Chilliwani at 4700 m, then we go to the control point to pay the entrance fee to the community (20 soles for foreign visitor and 10 soles for Peruvian). Afterwards we get ready for the hike towards the Rainbow mountain for around 2 hours uphill hike a distance of 4 km. Once in the Rainbow mountain you will have enough time to take pictures, listen to the explanations of the guide and enjoy all the wonderful landscape of the area. The time that you will spend at the rainbow mountain is about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the weather conditions, sometimes it is cloudy, foggy or a little rainy and it is very cold in that case you may stay about 30 minutes, if the weather is sunny and clear you can Stay around an hour enough time to know the Rainbow mountain. After we will get ready for the return hike through the Red Valley which is a spectacular red landscape, the hike through the red valley takes about 2 hours to the car stop and it will be the end of the hike then we take the car back to Cusipata for an hour where we will stop to have a buffet lunch and then 2 more hours by car back to Cusco.
- NOTE
If you do not like to do the Red Valley hike you can return to the car stop by the same trail that you took to make to the Raimbow mountain. The downhill hike by the same trail takes around 1.5 hours to the car stop. The car will wait for every single person of the group.

The locals rent riding horses in rainbow mountain. If you need a horse once you arrive at the checkpoint of the rainbow mountain, you can rent horses directly from the locals; of course, the tour guide will help you. They charge around 70 to 90 soles in dollars around 20 to 25 for the ride up, and this price includes a person who will pool the horse up to the mountain. You just need to sit on the horses. If you also like horses for the way back, it will cost 40 to 60 soles in dollars around 10 to 17
The prices of the horses change because it depends on the demand of the day, sometimes there are many people for rainbow mountain, and they increase the price, but sometimes they keep the low price; you need to negotiate with the locals.
